You know what my husband loves the most about me? Ok... that is a loaded question haha. So maybe it's not the thing that he loves the most. But he definitely loves it...

I do not like to shop. I tolerate it. And I do it when necessary. But it's not at the top of my list of things I do to treat myself. In fact, I'm not even sure that it's on that list! :)

Oddly enough though, these past few years I've changed this whole Black Friday thing up a bit.

Around noon, I take my little self out in the madness and buy some clothes for myself.

I typically get a pair of shoes or boots, maybe a sweater that I've been imagining to top off a few outfits, some workout clothes, and probably a pair of cute pants. It is the most I shop the entire year. Seriously.

And you know what? It's glorious!

Over and done in a few hours and I feel accomplished to knock out a few Christmas presents while I'm out there! Something about all the people and the energy (some not-so-good energy for sure). Kind of cool that everyone is pushing toward the same goal of 'getting the perfect gift' (even if the recipient is yourself).

Here's the thing though - at the end of the day I have to bring that stuff home and put it away with the stuff I already have. Then I'll have more stuff.

Bleh.

By choice, we live in a small house. No basement. No garage. So by default we cannot bring new stuff home. Because there is just no room for it!

[Pretty sure that is one of the top 3 arguments for getting a smaller home.]

Can I give you my #1 Christmas Shopping tip? If you bring home or open 15 presents (new pieces of stuff), make a promise to yourself that you will purge that many items or more of your old stuff at the same time. It's so freeing. And you will feel suuuuuper awesome inside for doing it!

That old saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure" can't really happen if your junk is stored up in your closet / basement / garage / attic / under your bed / trunk of your car ... you get the idea. In the spirit of Frozen let it go! :)

Maybe that's one of the reasons I was so drawn to vinyl lettering. It's decor for the wall, yes. But it doesn't consume your space. It's beautiful and can say so many different things, in a trillion different ways!... but doesn't consume your space.

But I could talk all day about that :)

Wishing you and yours a very blessed Thanksgiving. We are so very grateful for each of you.

Create a beautiful day!
